I am an experienced Brooklyn Bankruptcy lawyer. For a low fee starting at $399* I will analyze your financial situation and render advice and assistance to you to determine whether to file a petition under the Bankruptcy Code. I will also prepare and file your petition, schedules, statement of financial affairs and other documents required by the Court. Finally, I will represent you at the 341 Meeting of the Creditors and direct you to approved debt counseling services. I am not a document preparation service, yet I charge rates similar to these services.
A chapter 7 bankruptcy case does not involve the filing of a plan of repayment as in chapter 13. If the debtor's "current monthly income" however, is more than the state median, the Bankruptcy Code requires application of a "means test” and if the debtor fails the means test, the debtor has to show special circumstances to avoid his or her case being classified as a Chapter 13 case.
*The $399 legal fee varies depending upon the complexity of your case and does not include court filing and debt counseling fees.
